Lauri Ross walked into Lowe’s Home Improvement inArdenat the beginning of the year seeking a metal detector to find her husband’s lost wedding ring.

Rick Vogt lost the white gold wedding band while working in the yard inColumbusas he was throwing brush into the woods. Instead of a metal detector, however, Ross found Haskell Staton, an employee at Lowe’s who has worked with the machines as a hobby for 10 years.

Article | A lost ring found 40 miles away sheds light on Brooksbank School’s founder

A COUPLE of metal-detecting enthusiasts have unearthed a rare piece of Calderdale history – 40 miles away.

Terry and Nicola Wright were sweeping fields near Copmanthorpe, just off the A64 nearYork, when they came across 24-carat gold mourning ring with the name Joseph Brooksbank and the year 1726 engraved into it.

Report | British Museum restores helmet found with metal detector

When it was first dug up from a field in Leicestershire, it was thought to be a rusty bucket.

Further examination revealed it to be something far more significant – a decorated cavalry helmet which has shed new light on the Roman conquest ofBritain.

Now, following a nine-year restoration project, the so-called Hallaton helmet is to go on display.
