  1. Dead Sir/Madam,

My name is Eve Lewis and after several years of dropping very unsutal hints I received my first metal detector this Christmas.

I have used my metal detector twice and realise there is an art/skill to this this hobby.

    Are you accepting new members?

If so how often do you meet and where?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    With kind regards,

    Eve

      1. Does anyone know of a functioning detecting club in Warwickshire or the rugby area. Happy to travel. Everything seems closed down.

  2. Hi, I lost my wedding ring while volunteering at a Warwickshire national trust today and wondered if anyone could help me find it?

  6. Hi,

Noted some people metal detecting on Bennetts Hill Farm, South Littleton, Evesham on the Saturday or Sunday before Christmas. Was wondering if it was the members of your club. The reason I am enquiring is because my great grandfather started managing the farm very early in the last century. He very quickly then became a partner in the business, eventually the sole tenant. My father became involved in the 1950’s, he took the business over when my great grandfather died and left in 1973. I was raised on the farm, can remember the layout, the activities, some of the workers and the machinery used.

The farm was nearly all fruit and vegetables, it had a large workforce. The nature of the work meant they were mostly ‘on the ground’ and I would expect they dropped some items as they carried out their tasks. The farm I am very interested in what the detectorists found and where it was on the farm. I could assist the finders of the objects, because I knew the boundaries of the extensive orchards and the open ground used for vegetable growing. It would add context to the finds.

After my family left I know there was an archaeological dig for I think an Iron Age settlement. Also an illegal detectorist found some Roman coins. Know some Roman coins were also found by workers when on the ground.

Hope you do not mind the enquiry.

    Happy New Year,

    Grahame Aldington
