English Silver Coinage Since 1649 6th Edition
Hard back, 662 pages, Illustrated Colour, 14.5cm x 22cm.
English Silver Coinage. 6th Fully revised edition by Maurice Bull.
This fully revised 6th edition is a major expansion on all previous editions, offering more detail, clarity and research than ever before. With 680 pages, around 400 more than the last edition, it has been completely renumbered to remove the confusing letter suffixes used in earlier versions.
The book is now arranged by monarch rather than denomination, making it far easier to use, and all new numbering is cross-referenced to the previous edition for convenience.
A brand-new Provenances section records illustrated examples of coins and where they have appeared, helping confirm the existence of many rare pieces, including some previously only rumoured. The rarity ratings have also been fully reassessed in light of current evidence.
Although not intended to be a complete record of every silver coin and variety, this edition includes all major types as well as many recognised minor types and die varieties. Some previously listed varieties have been removed where they are now believed to be striking flaws or filled dies rather than genuine die-sinker errors.
The result is an outstanding reference work by Maurice Bull and an essential addition for collectors, dealers and researchers. A companion volume covering the gold coinage is also in preparation.
