About the author
John Vince has written many books and articles about bygone England and the countryside. Since 1947 he has been exploring old railways and canals, forgotten settlements and other nooks and crannies of the past and has used his camera to record the many significant changes taking place. He has a particular interest in ancient crafts and industries and he collects and restores rural bygones. The wide range of his investigations is reflected in the books he has written for Shire and other publishers. These include Windmills, Watermills, Carts and wagons and Saints in Britain in the Discovering series.
